Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is hiring a Project Engineer to lead technical design and engineering execution on site development projects. You will own deliverables from concept to final design, ensuring constructability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor staff, coordinate across disciplines, and communicate with clients and agencies while balancing quality, budget, and schedule. A PE license and ABET-accredited degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with applicable engineering design and analysis software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical work, mentor others, and coordinate across disciplines.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to quality project delivery and professional reliability.
• Availability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00, with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and preparation of site development plans for various project types.
• Develop grading, drainage, utility, and roadway layouts to meet objectives and regulations.
• Coordinate permitting and agency approvals for site projects.
• Evaluate constraints and design alternatives for constructible solutions.
• Produce complete engineering designs including plans, specs, reports, calculations, and estimates.
• Review work by engineers, EITs, designers, and technicians for accuracy and quality.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance across disciplines.
• Communicate with clients, agencies, and project partners professionally.
• Identify technical risks and support schedule and budget adherence.
• Participate in professional organizations to support growth and engagement.
