The Town of Needham's Needham Free Public Library seeks a Library Reference Supervisor to lead the reference/information services department, plan and evaluate services, schedule staff, and guide a strong team in delivering welcoming, accurate assistance to patrons of all ages.

The successful candidate will drive programming, oversee collections and databases, collaborate with the Director on budgets and policy, engage with local media to promote services, and contribute to the library's

Qualificações

• MLS degree required or currently enrolled with library experience considered.
• 4–6 years in professional reference services, preferably with supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of library policies, procedures, systems, and current trends.

Responsabilidades

• Direct and schedule the activities of the library's reference/information services including staff scheduling and project assignment.
• Lead the creation of a robust library programming offering across technology, art, history, and culture.
• Ensure welcoming, inclusive services and programming for all patrons.
• Advise the Director on plans, budgets, personnel, and policy implementation.
• Assist patrons with locating and using resources via print, catalog, and databases.
• Lead staff development and professional growth opportunities.
• Design and coordinate informational materials for internal and external audiences.
• Engage with local media to promote Reference Department services.
• Coordinate with Technical Services Supervisor on selection and budget for Young Adult and Adult Departments; evaluate collections.
• Participate in hiring reference staff.
