Job summary

City of Abilene, Texas is seeking a qualified professional to lead the Technical Services Division of the Abilene Public Library. You will oversee cataloging, acquisitions, and materials processing, while managing the division budget and vendor relations.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in public library management, and collaboration with the Abilene Library Consortium to ensure efficient Interlibrary Loan services and system operations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library science or information science required.
• Five years of public library experience preferred with progressive responsibilities.
• Two years in Library Technical Services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Technical Services operations including cataloging, acquisitions, and materials processing.
• Prepare and manage the division budget and coordinate with City Finance on purchasing policies.
• Serve as main contact for Technical Services vendors (physical/electronic materials, databases, OCLC).
• Supervise, train, and evaluate Technical Services staff.
• Oversee Integrated Library System operations and collaborate with the Abilene Library Consortium.
• Oversee Interlibrary Loan services and act as primary IL loan contact with the state.
• Compile and submit monthly division activity reports to the Director.
• Develop and drive the division's vision and priorities in line with library mission.
