Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Senior Scientist – Lentiviral Vector Upstream Process Development to lead scalable cell culture processes for lentiviral products at Spring House, PA. You will drive experiments, optimize bioreactor operations, and guide technology transfer to GMP manufacturing sites.

The role requires advanced degrees with strong data analysis skills, experience in viral-based process development, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience or BS/MS with 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with viral-based process development is required.
• Experience in mammalian cell culture process development for biologics/cell therapy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute upstream process development studies for lentiviral products.
• Conduct cell culture experiments using bench-scale to high-throughput systems.
• Contribute to development of lentiviral processes to improve productivity and quality.
• Perform technology transfer to Johnson & Johnson manufacturing sites.
• Support product life cycle management and regulatory documentation.
• Apply DOE, data analytics, and monitoring tools to strengthen process understanding.
• Analyze process data using JMP, MiniTab, Python, and Spotfire.
• Collaborate with downstream, analytical, formulation, modeling, and automation teams.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide scientific leadership across programs.
