Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Lead Launch Vehicle Systems Engineer to act as the technical interface to launch vehicle providers and to own ICDs, integration, and field operations at the Cape Canaveral campaign. You will coordinate analyses, set verification plans, and guide readiness reviews.

Ideal candidates have hands-on spacecraft-launch integration experience, strong decision-making in field conditions, and excellent communication skills to coordinate across providers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
• 8+ years in aerospace systems engineering with hands-on launch vehicle experience.
• Experience leading integration, ICDs, and interface management for spacecraft and launch vehicles.
• Experience as launch-site or campaign technical lead preferred.
• Familiarity with range safety processes and Cape Canaveral facilities is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to brief executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AST and launch vehicle providers' primary technical interface.
• Lead spacecraft processing, integration, and encapsulation at the launch site.
• Own ICDs and interface requirements; manage changes through configuration control.
• Coordinate analyses: mass properties, structural loads, environments, RF, electrical, separation.
• Define and track launch-related requirements, verification plans, and mission assurance deliveries.
• Support provider evaluation and technical assessments and trade studies.
• Lead launch readiness reviews and provide go/no-go recommendations.
