Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Launch Operations Mechanical Engineer Lead to own mechanical integration at the launch site, ensuring flight hardware is flight-ready and fully certified for launch.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with launch vehicle providers, systems engineering, and range operations, while driving continuous improvement across MGSE and site workflows.

Requirements include 8+ years in aerospace, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, and strong CAD and GD&T skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 8+ years in aerospace or high-reliability environments with hardware integration ownership.
• Strong CAD proficiency and MGSE experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical integration at the launch site ensuring flight-ready hardware and adapters.
• Define strategy, sequencing, and risk mitigation for launch campaigns.
• Lead MGSE design, qualification, and deployment.
• Be the primary mechanical authority during integration, testing, and launch operations.
• Coordinate activities with systems engineering, test operations, launch vehicle providers, and range ops.
• Review and approve mechanical procedures and dispositions for non-conformances.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; drive process improvements and workflow efficiency.
