Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Land Use Engineer to lead land use and development due diligence for early-phase Energy Storage projects in California. You will coordinate with Business Development, Policy, Product, and engineering teams to produce a sound development basis and manage environmental and entitlement activities.

The role requires a strong background in land development, NEPA/state reviews, and utility coordination, with a PE or AICP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of land use due diligence and permitting processes.
  • Experience with NEPA, state environmental reviews, and federal wetlands.
  • Familiarity with zoning, site planning, and entitlement processes.
  • Understanding of grid-scale battery storage site development requirements.
  • Experience managing permit matrices, budgets, and utility coordination.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or AICP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholder outreach skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own scope, resourcing, and schedule for land use due diligence on early-phase projects.
  • Produce site-screening analyses and develop a defendable basis for development.
  • Plan and manage surveys, geotechnical, hydrology, and drainage studies.
  • Lead NEPA and state environmental reviews, coordinating with agencies.
  • Drive entitlements, permit matrices, and budget across approvals.
  • Coordinate utility service acquisitions and consultant management.
  • Develop Basis of Design package for handoff to detailed design.
