Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Energy Storage Project Engineering to shape early-phase scope, develop concept designs, and outline permitting/interconnection paths for grid-scale BESS projects. You will collaborate with Business Development and Product teams to ensure buildable, compliant concepts before handing to detailed design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in related fields.
Deep understanding of grid-scale energy storage technologies and balance-of-plant equipment (inverters, transformers, switchgear, fire detection).
Strong knowledge of electrical system design, utility interconnection requirements, and utility-scale project execution (medium/high voltage).
Familiarity with standards/codes (UL 9540, UL 1973, UL 1741, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC).
Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary scopes within AE/design firms; 5+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

Produce concept layouts, single-line diagrams, and feasibility studies for early-phase BESS projects.
Serve as EPC point of contact for Business Development with scope boundaries, cost and schedule inputs.
Coordinate disciplines to set design basis and assemble concept packages for pursuit schedules.
Document permitting and interconnection pathways, timelines, and site requirements.
Drive data requests to closure and manage scope delineation and responsibilities.
