Job summary

Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee one or more technical areas in a clinical laboratory. You will develop and maintain procedures to meet accreditation standards, recruit and develop staff, and monitor performance and quality metrics across the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Line.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree program in a chemical, physical, biological science, medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
• Requires five years of experience, with progressive responsibility, in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting including experience with laboratory accreditation.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to oversee laboratory functions.
• Must demonstrate proficiency with personal computers for word processing and spreadsheets.
• Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal interactions.

Responsibilities

• Assures section compliance with accreditation and regulatory agency requirements, including educational, competency, proficiency testing, and safety.
• Oversees test performance characteristics, quality control programs, and resolves problems.
• Maintains up to date technical procedures and validation testing.
• Interviews and orients new employees to maintain adequate staffing levels.
• Prepares performance management documents and ensures staff competency.
• Leads quality management activities including oversight of indicators, metrics, and customer-supplier feedback.
