Job summary

IDEXX Portland, OR is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead a busy reference lab. You will split time as a Laboratory Supervisor (60%) and Individual Contributor (40%), overseeing technicians and coordinating workflow, scheduling, and costs while solving daily operational challenges.

The role involves hands-on testing with automated analyzers and microscopes, reading results, and ensuring adherence to SOPs in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Directly supervised 5+ employees in a fast-paced environment.
• Operations leadership experience from any industry accepted.
• Laboratory setting experience preferred (set up/run/read tests, operate equipment).
• Able to meet physical requirements for lab work.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lab Technician teams and oversee diagnostic workflows.
• Organize staff schedules, coordinate workflow, and monitor costs and metrics.
• Troubleshoot diagnostic analyzers and resolve turnaround-time issues.
• Coach and develop employees to reach business goals and potential.
• Perform tests using automated analyzers and microscopes per SOPs.
• Read and release lab results in accordance with SOPs.
