Job summary

Type One Energy is seeking a Lead Laboratory Technical Associate in Knoxville, TN to advance fusion fuel cycle experiments. You will assemble and run UHV/cryogenic lab equipment, write procedures, and supervise staff while ensuring safe operations and rigorous data collection.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in development labs using UHV systems, hands-on cryogenics expertise, SDS and safety planning, and strong presentation skills to communicate results to engineers and scientists.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in a development lab using UHV systems.
• Solid understanding of GHS classification and labelling.
• Experience with SDS and safety planning.
• In-depth knowledge of UHV/Cryogenic systems and best practices.
• Experience with cryocoolers and liquids nitrogen/helium.
• Mechanical and electrical assembly skills for UHV/cryogenic equipment.
• Strong data acquisition and analysis skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Hydrogen safety or compressed gas handling experience.
• Knowledge of fusion fuel cycle.

Responsibilities

• Assemble equipment, sub-systems, instruments and data acquisition for a fusion fuel cycle lab.
• Plan, write procedures, and perform experiments.
• Mentor lab personnel to operate UHV and cryogenic equipment safely.
• Manage laboratory equipment and consumables.
• Present experimental results to engineers and scientists.
