Job summary

Type One Energy seeks a Cryogenic Engineer to design and validate cryogenic systems for its stellarator program. You will perform analytical thermodynamics and numerical analyses, supporting piping, heat exchangers, insulation, valves, and distribution components.

You will develop system-level models and collaborate across magnet engineering, vacuum, and plasma physics teams to ensure performance and safety in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Design, analyze, and validate cryogenic systems for superconducting magnets.
• Experience with analytical and numerical evaluations of cryogenic performance.
• Strong collaboration and communication in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermodynamic, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer calculations.
• Model cryogenic systems and analyze transient and steady-state behavior.
• Specify and integrate piping, heat exchangers, insulation, valves, and distribution components.
• Develop system-level thermal/fluid models to inform design decisions.
• Draft PFDs and, if possible, P&IDs; support HAZAN/HAZOP rounds.
• Collaborate with magnet, vacuum, plasma physics, and power systems teams.
