Job summary

Saint Luke's in Lee's Summit, MO seeks a full-time Phlebotomist to join our hospital-based laboratory team. You will collect specimens, correlate orders in LIS/EMR, and perform point-of-care testing as needed. The role includes training new staff, evaluating competencies, and managing supplies and scheduling.

Applicants must have or obtain Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP or HNA) within 9 months of hire and work a 12-hour shift pattern across Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP or HNA) required within 9 months of hire.
• Ability to collect patient specimens and correlate orders in LIS/EMR.
• Experience training new staff and providing coaching.
• Manage supply ordering and inventory levels; schedule staff as needed.

• FT - Days 3 12-hour shifts per week: 0700-1930 Week 1: Sunday, Monday Tuesday. Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday
• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that may interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Trains new employees and precepts phlebotomy students.
• Assists with competency evaluations.
• Manages supply ordering and inventory levels.
• Manages and directs staff scheduling, as assigned.
• Serves as a resource for staff to resolve problems or issues that may impact patient care.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, as assigned.
