Job summary

Saint Luke's Health System in Lee's Summit, MO seeks a Lead Licensed Phlebotomy Technician to supervise phlebotomy staff, train new employees, and ensure accurate specimen collection.

You will collect patient samples, document in LIS/EMR, manage supplies and staff scheduling, and participate in performance improvement activities. Certification ASCP or HNA within 9 months of hire is required.

Collects patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy. Documents receipt of patient samples in Lab Information System (LIS) and prepares them for analysis. As a Lead LST, this individual has additional accountability for assigned administrative tasks or projects and serving as a role model for the LST group in the department.

• FT - Days 3 12-hour shifts per week: 0700-1930 Week 1: Sunday, Monday Tuesday. Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday
• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory’s policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that may interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Trains new employees and precepts phlebotomy students.
• Assists with competency evaluations.
• Manages supply ordering and inventory levels.
• Manages and directs staff scheduling, as assigned.
• Serves as a resource for staff to resolveproblems or issues that may impact patient care.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, as assigned.
• Phlebotomy Certification, ASCP or HNA (required) within 9 months of hire
