Job summary

Wellstar Health System, Inc. is seeking a Lab Support Services Specialist II who performs technical and non-technical duties across hospital laboratory service areas, serving as expert / lead in assigned area under supervision of the Laboratory Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor.

You will handle specimen processing, phlebotomy if required, and ensure accuracy, quality assurance, and timely reporting. Strong communication and leadership will be essential to support staff and maintain

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years experience in specimen processing in outpatient or hospital laboratory.
BLS certification required upon hire.
Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lead in absence of supervisor and demonstrate teamwork.

Responsibilities

Perform responsibilities of Lab Support Services Specialist, with possible phlebotomy.
Lead duties in absence of supervisor or manager.
Operate multiple computer systems (HIS/LIS) with accuracy.
Provide customer service and protect privacy and confidentiality.
Handle specimen receipt, processing and testing as indicated.
Maintain education and training in department procedures.
Trains new staff and supports shift hand-off communications.
Ensure compliance with policies and timely reporting to lab.
