Circuit Court of Cook County is seeking a Food Service Supervisor for the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center in Chicago, IL. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; A.A. degree strongly preferred.
• 3 to 5 years’ supervisory experience in a food service environment required.
• 1 to 2 years storeroom/inventory experience with vendors and procurement.
• 1 year high-volume cooking experience with from-scratch preparation.
• U.S. citizenship required; 21 years of age at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Oversees food preparation, cooking, cleaning, sanitation, and inventory control.
• Supervise Food Service Department staff including time & attendance, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Fill in for any food services position during staff shortages.
• Train new employees and interpret policies; handle disciplinary matters.
• Review menus; maintain inventory; order food and supplies; control waste.
• Work with the Dietitian to ensure portions and special diets are accommodated.
• Prepare department reports; conduct site audits and counts.
• Oversee storeroom operations and vendor communications.
• Assist with purchasing and vendor issue resolution; participate in new food contracts.
• Provide replacement recommendations to cooks in emergencies.
• Support with inventory targets and physical inventory processes.
