Job summary

Scion Staffing invites applicants for a Lead Java Engineer position. This is a full-time direct-hire role offering a remote schedule (EST preferred) with a hands-on leadership aspect across a pod.

You’ll build, ship, and guide engineering direction while ensuring high-quality features. The role requires 5+ years in Java & React, prior leadership experience, strong Agile practices, and experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, ideally on GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of Java & React.
• 1+ years in a Team Lead or comparable leadership role.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with software design and development within a test-driven environment.
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on player-coach: Build, test, and deploy production code using Java and React.
• Lead technical execution: Drive system/design decisions for scalable, secure solutions on GCP.
• Quality & mentorship: Own/push strong engineering practices and mentor pod members.
• Delivery & Agile execution: Support sprint commitments, communicate risks/status, and participate in retrospectives.

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Lead Java Engineer for our client, a Google Premier Partner! This is a full-time, direct hire position offering a remote schedule (EST preferred).

POSITION OVERVIEW

You’ll be a hands‑on Full Stack Engineer with the added responsibility of acting as the technical leader and facilitator for your pod. This is a player‑coach role, meaning you’ll actively build and ship while also ensuring your team has clarity, support, and the technical direction needed to deliver high‑quality features. As the Pod Lead, you’ll collaborate closely with pod leadership and help your group execute in an Agile environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hands‑on player‑coach: Build, test, and deploy production code using Java and React.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
