Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a senior backend engineer in Columbus, OH to own end-to-end delivery of AI-enabled backend components, integrating agentic workflows and LLM-powered features into core product experiences.

You will design, develop, test, and troubleshoot complex distributed systems using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud platforms. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in software engineering, strong OOAD, CI/CD, and experience with AI-assisted coding tools.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and developing distributed systems using Java.
• Strong knowledge of Java 21+, Spring Boot, React, REST, Kafka, Microservices, Agile, DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and validating AI outputs for correctness and security.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex backend components with AI-native capabilities.
• Design, develop and troubleshoot software solutions beyond routine approaches.
• Create secure, production-grade code and robust algorithms.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices for code quality and delivery speed.
• Participate in design reviews and architecture discussions.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose optimizations; mentor junior engineers.
