Job summary

Jefferson County Schools seeks a Supervisory Itinerant Special Education Aide to assist teachers by working with students in small groups or one-to-one, and to help supervise students on the school bus, ensuring safe instruction and rapport with pupils.

The role is non-exempt, typically 200 days annually, with pay grade levels B–E and commensurate with experience and education per WV code. Duties include support across instructional activities and behavior management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c; Meet the definition of Qualifications in WV Code 18A-4-8b; competency tested per WV Code 18A-4-8e.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students.
• Assists teacher as needed with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials.
• Conducts learning games with students according to established procedures.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with State Law and County policies and procedures.
• Assists with supervision of children; bus supervision and safe transport responsibilities.
• Participates in bus duty, hall monitoring, lunchroom duty, playground duty, and other duties as assigned.
