Job summary

Jefferson County School District's Dandridge Elementary School is hiring a part-time Special Education (Resource) Instructional Assistant. The position runs 5.5 hours per day across 188 paid days for a full school year, with paid holidays, paid sick days, and pro-rating if hired mid-year.

Responsibilities include assisting with individual students or small groups, supporting IEP goals, grading, preparing materials, supervising in classrooms and cafeteria, and transporting students as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic educational and learning curriculum for elementary and middle school age students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, teachers, and co-workers.
• Ability to develop lesson plans and supplemental learning activities for individual students or small groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Instruct special needs students according to IEPs.
• Check notebooks and grades, correct as necessary.
• Monitor student behavior in playground, cafeteria, and classrooms.
• Assist with cleaning and organizing assigned classrooms.
