Job summary

RED Global seeks a Lead IT Engineer to drive enterprise infrastructure in Bloomington, Indiana. This hands-on leadership role requires ownership of servers, virtualization, networking, cloud, storage, security and endpoint platforms, with escalation responsibility for major incidents.

You will mentor engineers, guide infrastructure roadmaps, and oversee GMP/21 CFR Part 11 compliant environments while coordinating with OT and manufacturing teams onsite.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in progressive IT infrastructure roles with leadership experience.
• Hands-on with Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V and enterprise networking.
• Experience with Cisco networking, Fortinet firewalls/SD‑WAN and wireless.
• Cloud know‑how in Azure, AWS, M365 and hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiar with SAN/NAS, backup/recovery, DR and IT security.
• ServiceNow or similar ITSM platform experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, architecture, and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

Lead IT Engineer | Infrastructure & Operations

Bloomington, IN | 100% Onsite | 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

RED Global is seeking an experienced Lead IT Engineer to support a regulated pharmaceutical/manufacturing environment in Bloomington, Indiana.

This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for a senior infrastructure engineer ready to take the next step toward IT management. The successful candidate will oversee complex enterprise infrastructure, serve as the highest-level technical escalation point, and drive improvements across IT operations, security, networking, cloud, and manufacturing technology.

• Location: Bloomington, IN (100% onsite, Monday-Friday)
• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
• Work Authorization: US Citizens only
• Employment: W2 or C2C during the contract period; must be willing and eligible to convert to the client's W2 employment after the contract period
• Location Restriction: Candidates must currently reside in the Bloomington, IN area. Relocation is not being considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical leadership across servers, virtualization, networking, cloud, storage, security, and endpoint infrastructure.
• Serve as the final escalation point for major incidents, outages, and complex infrastructure issues.
• Design and improve on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
• Lead incident, change, release, and configuration management processes using ServiceNow.
• Support validated and non-validated systems in compliance with GMP and 21 CFR Part 11.
• Collaborate with Operational Technology (OT), laboratory systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Oversee network security, firewall management, patching, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery.
• Mentor engineers and help establish infrastructure roadmaps, operational standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including 2+ years in a senior engineering or technical leadership role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, and enterprise networking.
• Expertise with Cisco networking, Fortinet firewalls/SD-WAN, and enterprise wireless infrastructure.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and infrastructure security.
• Experience with ServiceNow or comparable ITSM platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, architecture, incident management, and stakeholder communication skills.

Highly Preferred

• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and validated systems.
• Experience supporting OT, laboratory systems, and manufacturing infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Ubiquiti, SCVMM, MS SQL, Azure IaaS/PaaS, and Veeam.
• Interest in progressing into an IT management position.

Additional Requirements

• Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Occasional travel to other facilities or data centers.
• Ability to work onsite in manufacturing, laboratory, and data center environments.

C2C and W2 arrangements are acceptable during the initial contract period; however, candidates must be willing and able to transition to direct W2 employment with the end client upon conversion.
