Job summary

Matrix Service, Inc. in Rougemont, NC is seeking a Journeyman Ironworker to perform layout, rigging, and erection of structural-steel members on rolling projects.

You will interpret blueprints, oversee hoisting, guide lifts, and ensure safety compliance on site. Requirements include a minimum of three years as a journeyman ironworker, NCCER Journeyman Ironworker certification, and proven experience with rigging, rigging signaling, welding, and field welding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of journeyman level experience in refinery maintenance, turnaround, data center or heavy industrial construction.
• Advanced knowledge of structural steel erection techniques, rigging standards, crane signaling, and field welding/cutting tools.
• Must hold or successfully complete the NCCER Journeyman Ironworker (Structural) certification.
• Successful completion of Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
• Must obtain and maintain active, compliant status within the DISA drug testing program.

Responsibilities

• Interprets blueprints, sketches, and specifications to plan layout, rigging requirements.
• Sets up, inspects, and oversees hoisting and rigging equipment for safely raising structural-steel members.
• Signals operators of hoisting equipment using standard hand or radio signals.
• Guides and controls structural members during lifts using tag lines.
• Aligns bolt holes and verifies alignment of structural frameworks using lasers, plumb and square.
• Bolts, tacks, or clamps aligned members for permanent bolting or welding.
• Casts, welds, and makes precision field alterations as needed.
• Identify safety hazards and ensure crew adheres to safety protocols.
