Job summary

Matrix Service Company in Clarksville, Arkansas seeks a journeyman ironworker to lay out, rig, and erect structural steel for complex frameworks. The role requires interpretation of blueprints, setting up hoisting gear, signaling operators, and precise alignment of members.

You will weld, cut, bolt, and clamp components while maintaining strict safety standards and compliance with DISA drug testing. This is a full-time on-site position offering comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of journeyman level experience in refinery maintenance, turnaround, data center or heavy industrial construction.
• Advanced knowledge of structural steel erection techniques, rigging standards, crane signaling, and field welding/cutting tools.
• Must hold or successfully complete the NCCER Journeyman Ironworker (Structural) certification.
• Successful completion the Matrix Service Safety training and Client/Site specific training.
• Must obtain and maintain active, compliant status within the DISA drug testing program.

Responsibilities

• Interprets blueprints, sketches, and specs to plan layout, sequencing and rigging requirements for structural steel erection.
• Sets up, inspects, and oversees hoisting and rigging equipment for safely raising and placing structural-steel members.
• Signals operators of hoisting equipment using standard hand or radio signals to lift and position steel members.
• Aligns bolt holes in positioned members with existing structure using drift pins or sleever bars.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment (plumb, level, square) using plumb bobs, lasers, transit levels, and dials.
• Bolts, tacks, or clamps aligned members to secure them until permanent bolting or welding.
• Cuts, burns, and welds steel members to make precision field alterations.
• Identifies safety hazards on the job site and enforces safety protocols.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
