Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Principal Firmware Engineer - IoT to lead the design, implementation, and testing of embedded wireless systems. You will collaborate with hardware, product, and reliability teams to drive next‑gen power tool capabilities and IoT features.

You will mentor engineers, apply RTOS concepts, and optimize firmware through testing strategies, while traveling up to 10% to support suppliers and project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field.
• 7+ years in a design/embedded firmware role.
• Strong knowledge of wireless protocols (BLE, Cellular, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee/LoRa).
• Experience in C++ RTOS programming on microcontrollers.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded IoT wireless systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (hardware, firmware, product, reliability).
• Mentor engineers on firmware best practices (C/C++, RTOS, testing).
• Develop firmware test strategies and drive automation.
• Work with suppliers for component selection and project needs.
• Communicate risks and opportunities to leadership.
• Drive project roadmaps and resource plans to meet goals.
