Job summary

Genentech in South San Francisco, CA is seeking an Instrument Technician to calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install analytical and laboratory instruments. You will collect technical data, document work orders, and ensure safe operation in a cGMP environment while collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering teams.

The role requires strong hands-on skills in instrumentation, ability to read P&IDs, and experience with calibration management.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with instrumentation/electronics training or equivalent
Three years’ experience as an instrument or electronics technician or five years instrumentation experience
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering documents, and schematics
Thorough knowledge of instrumentation principles and cGMP/GLP practices

Responsibilities

Perform calibrations, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and installation of analytical and laboratory instruments.
Collect and organize technical data from equipment manufacturers, users, and engineering personnel.
Document tasks and work orders according to SOPs and policies.
Ensure safe operation of tools and shop equipment and compliance with safety standards.
Lead and train peers and assist management with task coordination.
Review vendor calibration/PM/repair docs and assist with spare parts identification.
