Job summary

Kustomer is seeking an Infrastructure Software Engineer to build and evolve the company’s critical backend systems. You will contribute across 50% backend and 50% infrastructure work, driving architecture and performance improvements while mentoring engineers and shaping security, observability, and reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years experience building and managing large scale, highly available, distributed web applications.
• Mastery of a high-level programming language like Go, Python, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Own technical architecture discussions and lead engineering decisions.
• Lead and mentor engineers through technical projects and initiatives.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform.
• Experience designing sharding configurations for databases.
• Experience creating internal tools and SLAs/SLOs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers on key initiatives and projects.
• Provide guidance to team members and promote technical excellence.
• Design, develop, maintain, and improve software infrastructure and platform.
• Improve scalability, performance, and availability metrics.
• Lead large-scale system changes to meet business objectives.
• Tackle ambiguous engineering problems with well-architected solutions.
• Collaborate across teams to drive engineering best practices.
• Align with CTO and technical leaders on strategic development direction.
• Bridge backend systems and data platform collaboration across teams.
• Identify systemic inefficiencies and implement improvements.
• Coach senior engineers to grow technical leadership.
