Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is hiring a full-time Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for our Early Head Start program in Chicago. The role focuses on effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.

The position offers a competitive annual pay range ($43,888–$60,362) and comprehensive benefits. A strong credential background and commitment to early childhood education are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with two Infant/Toddler courses is required.
• Level 4 Gateways Infant/Toddler Certification or Erikson Institute Infant/Toddler Certification is required.
• 1-3 years in an early childhood classroom experience is preferred.
• DCFS background check and clearance required.
• Experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive climate and responsive caregiving for infants, toddlers, and twos.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans emphasizing health, language, and social-emotional development.
• Engage families, schedule home visits and conferences, and encourage parental involvement.
• Maintain routines and supervise classroom activities ensuring safety and compliance with Head Start standards.
• Complete required documentation and maintain child education files and portfolios.
