Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Head Start Pre-K Assistant Teacher in Chicago to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences for 3- to 5-year-olds, assist with instruction, classroom management, and assessment while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Education or an AA with Gateways Level 4 Credential, a DCFS background check, and commitment to Head Start standards; full-time employment with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Education or AA with Gateways Level 4 Credential
• Gateways Level 4 Credential required
• Pass DCFS background check and maintain clearance
• Experience with Head Start/early childhood education preferred

Responsibilities

• Support high-quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Maintain supervision and safety of children at all times.
• Assist with English Language Learner programs
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities
• Collaborate with staff on lesson planning
• Complete required paperwork and attend meetings
• Document and assess children's progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD
• Attend professional development hours and maintain a training log
