Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a full-time Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for our Early Head Start program. The role focuses on effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and age-appropriate learning for children 6 weeks to 3 years old in a supportive setting.

Responsibilities include planning activities, collaborating with families, ensuring safety, and maintaining documentation and assessments. Competitive benefits and comprehensive health plans are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ECE with two Infant/Toddler courses.
• Level 4 Gateways Infant/Toddler Certification or Erikson Institute Infant/Toddler Certification.
• 1–3 years in an early childhood classroom, preferably in Head Start.
• Must pass DCFS background check and maintain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive climate and developmentally appropriate care for infants, toddlers, and twos.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Head Start standards.
• Collaborate with families and encourage parent involvement through meetings and events.
• Ensure health, safety, and daily routines; supervise children at all times.
• Complete weekly documentation and participate in classroom assessments and reports.
