Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is looking for a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to design and commission industrial machinery for R&D, test, and production, while working with a fast-paced agile team.

You will own equipment design from concept to commissioning, develop schematics in EPlan, program TwinCAT PLCs, select hardware, and create HMIs for diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure the design intent is met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• 5+ years of work in manufacturing/test/R&D.
• 5+ years of PLC programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of equipment design from concept, requirements, and commissioning.
• Generate schematics for electrical and fluid systems in EPlan to required standards.
• Write and debug software for PLCs in TwinCAT that is maintainable and scalable.
• Programming of industrial controls hardware (VFDs, motor starters, PLCs).
• Select application specific hardware (circuit protection, VFDs, motion systems, robots).
• Develop HMIs that are easy to use for diagnostics & troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with end users to ensure equipment meets design intent.
