Qualifications

• Must be a Certified CNA with at least 1 year experience in geriatric care.
• Certified by a licensed physician within 45 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the program aide assisting with nurse care.
• Understand the needs of the elderly and cognitive impairments.
• Be sensitive to the needs of family caregivers.
• Be available to work unscheduled days and hours.
• Commit to cooperative performance to attain care and program objectives.
• Observe participants and report changes in their condition to the manager.
• Monitor and record routine vital signs and weights.
• Provide restorative nursing services including bowel/bladder management and therapies.
• Direct and assist program aides with personal care and supply maintenance.
• Provide prophylactic skin care to avoid breakdown.
• Provide nail care.
• Use infection control techniques in rendering care.
• Direct day meal services as prescribed by attending physician.
• Report inadequacies in dietary or fluid intake to the manager.
• Assist in the provision of emergency care.
• Check participant clothing and supplies and restock as needed.
• Implement and monitor scheduled activities for participants.
• Assist with ADLs: bathing, personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulation, eating.
