Job summary

Redtree is seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to lead the design and development of process, plant, and building control systems for distributed generation and district energy projects, including electric, steam, chilled water, hot water, and cogeneration facilities.

This role executes and leads I&C engineering activities across the full project lifecycle on both EPC and traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects, ensuring deliverables meet project scope,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 8+ years of relevant design engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI/IEEE standards for electrical equipment design.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating work.
• Experience developing or reviewing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
• Ability to travel to project sites (approx. 20%).

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C engineering activities across all project phases (FEL-1 to commissioning).
• Serve as primary client point of contact for I&C scope and design decisions.
• Develop control system architecture, interlock matrices, and HMI concepts.
• Prepare instrument data sheets, IO lists, and control narratives.
• Coordinate with process/mechanical teams and vendors; support FAT/SAT.
