Job summary

Converse University in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a Lead HVAC Technician to manage HVAC/R systems across campus. Responsibilities include supervising technicians, performing maintenance, troubleshooting boilers/chillers, and supporting energy management and controls.

Requires 4+ years in HVAC maintenance, EPA Type 2, physical ability, valid driver’s license; on-call rotations; ability to work at heights and in confined spaces; a strong safety ethic and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

Must have minimum Type 2 EPA Certification and 4 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and/or service.
Ability to lift 50lbs and climb ladders; capable of working in confined spaces and at height.
Valid driver’s license required.
Experience with boilers, chillers, and refrigeration controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

Respond to work requests and prioritize tasks.
Maintain and organize equipment and tools in safe, clean conditions.
Assist supervisor with planning, bids, and supervision of tasks.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on bearings, belts, filters, and coils.
Requisition HVAC supplies and equipment as needed.
Repair and maintain compressors, boilers, chillers, valves, pumps, and related systems.
Test and inspect cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and mechanical rooms.
