We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead HVAC Service Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 8+ years of experience in commercial HVAC service, repair, and maintenance. As a lead technician, you will take charge of complex service calls, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high-quality work while servicing clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the service, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, air handlers, and VRF/VRV systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, providing efficient and lasting solutions.
- Perform routine system inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Guide and mentor junior HVAC technicians, providing training, technical support, and leadership on job sites.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations of system issues, recommended repairs, and cost estimates.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and local building codes while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, and office staff to ensure efficient service scheduling and job completion.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including system diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and customer interactions.
- Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and industry best practices to continuously improve service quality.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC service, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Expertise in servicing and maintaining complex commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, and advanced controls.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience guiding and training junior technicians.
- EPA Section 608 Certification required; NATE, OSHA, or other advanced certifications are a plus.
- Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools, meters, and building automation systems (BAS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for service calls.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with energy-efficient HVAC solutions and California building codes.
- Strong knowledge of VRF/VRV systems, heat recovery systems, and hydronic heating.
