JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with the leadership, coordination, reporting and other communications related to the day-to-day operations of the facility; including issues regarding safety, quality, waste, productivity, maintenance costs, housekeeping, repairs and testing. Lead Maintenance Technician assures the facility is being taken care of by maintaining equipment running efficiently and minimizing non-plan stops. This will ensure manufacturing equipment/systems will work within specified performance parameters.

The Lead Maintenance Technician is knowledgeable in all facets of plant equipment and maintenance systems (grinding, material handling, utilities and overall grinding process) and can take over supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with Eco Material Technologies Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Provide safety leadership in promoting and creating a zero-injury safety culture
  • Assists with plant maintenance and outages, specifically Vertical Roller Mill and associated process equipment
  • Attends and/or facilitates regular safety meetings and follows all safety guidelines as required
  • Operates utility mobile equipment on site when required
  • Performs and/or assists with maintenance on process equipment and facilities as directed by plant management
  • Performs safety audits/observations, issues work order requests and properly file/maintain records.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the plant
  • Keep maintenance leadership informed of maintenance issues
  • Perform mechanical/process troubleshooting
  • Provide peer coaching discussions to correct issues
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams
  • Managing Jr. technician and contractor crews during outages and maintenance activities.
  • Instruct Jr. technicians and production crew with appropriate technical skills for maintenance tasks.
  • Inspecting the safety of operation equipment and enforcing safety practices on site.
  • Ensuring that everyone follows the standards and regulatory procedures to keep the production area safe and efficient
  • Managing and leading the maintenance crew coordinating with maintenance manager
  • Ensuring line readiness for production
  • Coordinating field installation, maintenance, and repair work at site.
  • Leading field teams made up of contractors and production crews who execute tasks according to plant requirements
  • Coordinating daily housekeeping and organization of maintenance shop and storage units
  • Overseeing field repairs and ensuring that work is completed on a safe and timely manner
  • Overseeing emergency field repairs to ensure restart of production.
  • Maintaining inventory and equipment, and ensuring proper storage
  • Assist management with continuous improvement goals
  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to follow safety protocols and adhere to company safety standards.
  • Must have technical expertise of mechanical and electrical systems, problem-solving ability, manual dexterity, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose issues with equipment and systems by using diagnostic tools, observing symptoms, and testing components.
  • Skilled in the use of a wide range of hand and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, impact wrenches, and pneumatic tools.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn and multi task and set priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with coworkers to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to stay up to date with advancements in technology and new maintenance techniques.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other pertinent operating systems.
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring a team of technicians.
  • Delegating tasks and managing maintenance schedules.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for reporting issues, instructing staff, and liaising with management.
  • Prioritizing tasks based on urgency and aligning with project timelines.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant field

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
