Job summary

HVAC RNTL in the United States is seeking a Lead HVAC Mechanic to independently layout and install applied HVAC equipment, and to supervise a crew on customer job sites. You will perform startup, testing, and repairs, while coordinating with Project Managers and customers on-site.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in chiller/HVAC maintenance, HVAC certification, OSHA 10, and strong problem solving. This field role involves travel to multiple sites and working in varied environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training.
• 5+ years in chiller/HVAC maintenance or related fields.
• EPA Certification preferred (HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, etc.).
• Familiar with manufacturing designs or schematics.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking.
• Ability to train junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Layout and install applied HVAC equipment independently with minimal direction.
• Supervise installation technicians on customer job sites.
• Startup applied equipment and complete startup log sheets.
• Communicate with end-user customers during installation and startup.
• Perform depot maintenance, testing and repairs including refrigerant handling.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues following lockout/tagout and PPE.
• Read wiring diagrams and verify voltages using meters.
• Collect superheat and sub-cooling data on equipment.
• Navigate control panels to start/stop and adjust setpoints.
• Lead a team of installers on multiple chiller applications.
