Job summary

Methode Electronics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Southfield, MI, to own design, analysis, and validation of high-voltage power distribution components, including data center busbars and wire harnesses. You will drive projects from concept to production with cross‑functional teams ensuring electrical, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing specs are met.

The role demands 5+ years in mechanical design for high-voltage systems, proficiency in Creo/SolidWorks/CATIA, and strong GD&T knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in high-voltage power distribution, industrial busbars, or data center infrastructure.
• Proficiency in advanced 3D CAD tools (Creo/SolidWorks/CATIA) and PLM software.

Responsibilities

• Design high-voltage components focusing on data center busbars and high-power wire harnesses using 3D CAD to produce models, layouts, and drawings.
• Optimize vertical busbar architectures for data center infrastructure considering electrical, thermal, mechanical, and IP requirements.
• Collaborate with FEA analysts to define models and interpret results for thermal, structural, and vibration simulations.
• Apply GD&T and ensure documentation and drawings comply with ASME Y14.5, ANSI, UL 857 / IEC 61439-6 standards.
• Lead cross-functional product development gates from concept through production release.
