Job summary

Ramboll US Corporation in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Senior HSE Specialist for Energy Projects to lead HSE across major EPC/EPCM delivery. You will interface with project teams, clients, and contractors to embed HSE requirements, conduct risk assessments, and drive safe, compliant execution.

You will oversee HSE performance, mentor project teams, develop dashboards and training programs, and ensure alignment with OSHA/ISO standards in the Americas. Some international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of site-based HSE experience on EPC projects, including 5+ years within engineering consultancy environments.
• Proven Project HSE Management experience supporting EPC/EPCM projects across multiple phases of delivery.
• Expertise in HSE planning, tender support, risk assessment, budgeting, resource planning, and development of project HSE deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of contractor management, procurement processes, contract HSE requirements, and HSE performance management through KPIs, audits, and reporting.
• Solid understanding of U.S. HSE regulations (OSHA 1910/1926), ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards, and relevant certifications such as CSP, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence clients, contractors, project teams, and leadership; international project experience and travel flexibility are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Project HSE Manager for EPC/EPCM projects across full lifecycle.
• Integrate HSE into planning, budgeting, and decisions.
• Embed HSE into contracts, procurement, and execution plans.
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure HSE in design reviews and governance processes.
• Monitor contractor HSE performance and escalate issues.
• Mentor project HSE teams and develop competency.
• Develop HSE metrics, dashboards, training, and safety initiatives.
• Lead audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Act as HSE liaison for clients, regulators, and leadership.
