Join UCLA’s Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) as a Senior HPC Storage Engineer to lead design, deployment, and operation of petabyte-scale storage systems. You will shape storage architectures for data-intensive research, AI/ML, and multi-institution collaborations across campus, cloud, and federated HPC environments.

Qualifications

• 7 years or more experience in storage environments for large-scale production storage services.
• Experience with petabyte-scale storage, federated storage or HPC/cloud-integrated storage services.
• Advanced knowledge of HPC, data science, and cyberinfrastructure for large-scale workloads.
• Knowledge of scale-out, parallel, distributed, object, federated storage architectures and tradeoffs.
• Hands-on experience architecting/deploying large-scale storage platforms such as Lustre, Ceph, GPFS, BeeGFS, or MinIO.
• Experience operating production storage systems: monitoring, capacity planning, upgrades, incident response, DR.
• Advanced Linux systems administration including kernel troubleshooting and storage hardware diagnostics.
• Scripting with Bash/Python; Ansible and Git familiarity.
• Experience integrating storage with identity providers (AD/LDAP/OIDC/SAML/Globus).
• Ability to design storage benchmarks and document results for audiences.
