Job description

Overview

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for the daily housekeeping operations within sites/facilities, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance in all areas.

The Lead Housekeeper provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing.
  • Inspect common areas and hallways to ensure they meet cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain cleaning and equipment inventory, ordering new supplies as needed while ensuring all inventory purchases have proper approval from the Maintenance/Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Property Manager.
  • May support supervision of housekeeping staff, assign daily tasks, and ensure completion of cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure that all safety regulations are followed by teammates, including proper use of PPE’s.
  • Assist with hurricane preparation before, during, and after a storm.
  • Help train new housekeeping staff and provide ongoing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate with the Housekeeping/Maintenance Supervisor and/or Property Manager regarding special cleaning requests.
  • Respond to resident inquiries related to housekeeping and cleanliness in a timely manner.
  • Assist with move in/outs as move monitor.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May help supervise 1 or more teammates.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • 1+ years as a Housekeeper or similar position.
  • Prior experience managing and leading a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) required.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to work under pressure, maintain composure and utilize good judgment during emergency/difficult and stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
  • Ability to crawl in small and tight spaces.
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain).
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs.
  • Ability to stoop and bend.
  • Extensive use of fingers for typing and visual use of the computer monitor.
  • Ability to handle, grasp, feel objects and equipment.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate property/buildings is required to meet the job functions.
  • Ability to repeat various motions with wrists, hands and fingers.
  • Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms.
  • May be required to perform work outdoors during all seasons.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights above ground level.
  • Ability to hear, understand and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
  • Ability to respond verbally in an understandable, professional manner in person and over the telephone.
  • May be required to travel for training sessions off-site.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed.
