Job description

This position oversees two properties: Hampton Inn & Home2 Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Channel District.

What Makes a McKibbon Lead Maintenance Technician?

As a member of the property maintenance team, the Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the hotel. This includes overseeing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and pool maintenance. You will supervise general facilities upkeep and report to the General Manager and Chief Engineer. Your goal is to maintain high-quality work to minimize guest disruptions. Candidates should have experience in construction trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, basic HVAC, pool maintenance, painting, caulking, or similar skills. Your role is to keep both your team and guests satisfied.

A Day in the Life:
  1. Work independently to monitor interior and exterior operations of the property.
  2. Follow McKibbon Hospitality guidelines to protect company assets, staff, and guests.
  3. Promote guest satisfaction through quality service.
  4. Perform engineering tasks and construction trades.
  5. Potentially train others in engineering and trades.
  6. Communicate effectively with employees and guests.
  7. Foster a collaborative and proactive environment among hotel staff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in maintenance or similar roles.
  • Ability to communicate operational priorities and issues with management and staff.
  • Knowledge of common causes of equipment malfunction.
  • Ability to repair and replace basic HVAC systems.
  • Skills in basic painting and caulking.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to test equipment for normal operation.
  • Knowledge of pool and spa chemical testing.
  • Familiarity with fire safety equipment handling.
  • Experience in construction trades (highly desired).
  • Previous hotel maintenance experience (preferred).

  • Ability to respond appropriately to customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication techniques to resolve equipment issues or disputes.
  • Ability to identify the right tools and parts for maintenance tasks.
