Job summary

First Hospitality is seeking a Chief Engineer for the Milwaukee Downtown hotel. You will lead the maintenance team, oversee proactive upkeep of the building systems and equipment, and ensure safe, high-quality repairs across guestrooms and facilities.

The role requires a proactive leader with strong communication skills and a focus on guest experience, safety, and operational continuity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or similar facility.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Electrical and/or plumbing certification is preferred; a valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain the physical building structure, building systems, and equipment via preventative and routine maintenance.
• Ensure completion of grounds and custodial work as needed.
• Use tools and power equipment following safety guidelines to protect self and others.
• Complete repairs to plumbing, painting, carpentry, sheetrock and electrical work safely and to standard.
• Prioritize repairs that may inconvenience or negatively impact guests’ experience.
• Communicate with hotel departments to ensure timely response and completion of maintenance needs.
• Listen to guests and address concerns, involving other departments when necessary.
• Train and support the hotel’s engineering team and maintain emergency procedures.
