Job summary

Prairie Heights is seeking a cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, reporting to the Dietary Supervisor. The role requires preparing meals for residents, following menus, and maintaining sanitary standards in a hospital or long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for at least 1 year.
• Ability to read and follow technical procedures and menus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Prepare meals in large quantities and follow menus and portion controls.
• Record food temperatures and prepare pureed foods as needed.
• Assist with serving and cleaning, report care concerns to supervisor.
• Supervise in absence of Dietary Supervisor and ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
