Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is recruiting to fill the Highway Maintenance Worker 4 position in Ely, Nevada. This on-site role involves planning and scheduling routine maintenance, emergency incident response, and snow removal support. As a lead worker and designated equipment operator, you will train lower‑level staff and assist the Highway Maintenance Supervisor I.

A valid US work authorization is required. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of Nevada state service as Highway Maintenance Worker III or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Ability to operate a range of highway maintenance equipment.
  • Willingness to work varying shifts including overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule routine maintenance activities (fence, guardrail, asphalt, concrete repairs).
  • Lead workers; train lower-level staff and review work performance.
  • Operate and back up equipment for line striping and pavement markings.
  • Establish traffic controls and reroute traffic in maintenance zones.
  • Winter operations: salt/sand handling, snow removal with plows and spreaders.
  • Maintain records, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with supervisors.
