Job summary

BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES, INC. in Columbia, MD, is seeking a Project Engineer for the Highway Design Department. The role focuses on lead design, coordination across disciplines, and delivering plans, specs, and estimates for state, county, and local roadways.

Candidates should have a BSCE, 4+ years in highway design, proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads, EIT/FE and PE within six months, and willingness to travel to project sites. Maryland DOT experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline.
• Four (4) or more years of experience in highway design projects.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation and associated highway design software (Power InRoads, AutoTurn, OpenRoads Designer, ConceptStation).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work well within a project team.
• Ability to travel to project sites.
• Experience with Maryland DOT and Maryland County DPW projects is preferred.
• EIT/FE
• PE or ability to obtain PE within six months.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design elements across multiple engineering disciplines to develop plans, specs and estimates.
• Communicate design progress with project managers and leverage entry-level design engineers to complete tasks.
• Understand design procedures and permit review processes for applicable clients.
• Lead project development including highway, drainage, geometrics, parking lots, utilities, MOT, signing and pavement markings, ADA and bicycle facilities.
