Job summary

BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES, INC. (BAI) seeks a Design Engineer for the Highway Design Division in Columbia, Maryland. The role involves developing plans, specifications, and estimates for highway design, drainage, and related site improvements under guidance from project engineers and managers.

Candidates should have a BSCE and at least two years of highway design experience, proficiency with CADD/MicroStation, and strong communication skills. Travel to project sites is required; FE/EIT is a plus.

Qualifications

• BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline
• Minimum two years of design experience in highway design
• Working knowledge of CADD and Microstation and associated design software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and GIS applications
• Ability to work well within a project team by building relationships and teamwork
• High-level of integrity, ethics, quality service, and safety
• Ability to travel to project sites
• FE/EIT exam or equivalent a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Develop plans, specifications and estimates for design services including highway design, drainage, concept design and analysis, and site improvements.
• Assist with horizontal and vertical geometrics, ADA, signing and pavement markings, and bicycle facilities.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure schedules, budgets and quality requirements are met.
• Adapt designs per client needs and regulatory requirements while maintaining safety and standards.

BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES, INC. (BAI) is a multidiscipline engineering firm providing consulting services to public and private sector clients in the Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia region. Since 1992, BAI has provided comprehensive, innovative and effective solutions to our clients’ transportation, stormwater, and infrastructure needs.

BAI is actively seeking a Design Engineer for the Highway Design Division in our Columbia, Maryland office.

Job Summary

The design engineer will demonstrate an ability to collaboratively work with a group or independently on a wide-range of small- or large-scale multi-discipline projects for state, county, or local jurisdictions. Design engineers will assist with development of project plans under the guidance of project engineers and project managers. The job requires analytical thinking, adaptive problem solving, creativity, and innovation. Design engineers shall be dependable, open minded, focused, and attentive to details including project schedules, budgets, and design quality.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include developing plans, specifications and estimates for design services including but not limited to highway design, highway drainage, concept design and analysis, horizontal and vertical geometrics, parking lots, site improvements, utilities, maintenance of traffic, signing and pavement markings, ADA, sidewalk design, bicycle facilities, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Minimum Requirements:

• BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline
• Minimum two (2) years of design experience in highway design
• Working knowledge of CADD and Microstation and associated design software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products and GIS applications
• Ability to work well within a project team by building relationships and teamwork
• High-level of integrity, ethics, quality service, and safety
• Maintain a positive rapport with supervisor and employees
• Ability to travel to project sites
• Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE/EIT) or equivalent a plus, but not required

Salary Range and Benefits:

Expected Salary Range: $60,000.00 to $98,000.00 per year.
