Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking a supervisor for the heavy equipment service and repair center. The role involves directing staff, coordinating repairs, and maintaining safety standards. You will work closely with vendors and other departments to minimize downtime and ensure high-quality service.

Ideal candidates have extensive heavy equipment repair experience, strong leadership, and solid diagnostic and reporting skills. This is an on-site position with regular daytime hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six (6) years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, including three (3) years in a lead role in automotive repair shop.
• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and plan and coordinate work in the heavy equipment service and repair center.
• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review vehicle/equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of the service center and compliance with procedures.
• Monitor vendors to ensure contract compliance and inspect work for completion.
• Instruct staff in new or complex repair techniques and procedures.
• Develop recommendations for service improvements and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate maintenance/repair work with other departments to optimize operations and customer service.
• Ensure availability of tools, supplies, and parts; manage stock orders as needed.
