Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Shop Supervisor in Lafayette, LA to lead the branch's heavy equipment mechanics and yard teams. The role emphasizes training, safety, and timely maintenance of rental equipment, while upholding high-quality service standards.

The supervisor will diagnose fuel/electrical/hydraulic systems, oversee parts management, and ensure accurate maintenance records. A strong leadership presence and customer-facing professionalism are essential.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Own a general mechanic's tool set capable of supporting a heavy equipment fleet.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop regular schedules for mechanics and yard technicians to service heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Operate boom lifts, forklifts, generators, pumps and related tools.
• Communicate with customers professionally.
• Maintain documentation, timesheets, checklists, and repair logs.
• Manage and order parts; supervise the work area.
• Assist mechanics and with general service duties.
