Job summary

Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) in Ferguson, MO, is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to support the construction and maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer facilities. You will operate back hoes, excavators, skid steers and trucks, perform minor repairs, and supervise assigned crews.

Minimum five years of related experience is required. A valid Class A CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements must be obtained within three months.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in maintenance and operation of heavy construction vehicles and equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of operation, servicing and daily maintenance of heavy construction equipment and vehicles.
• Special requirement: valid Class A CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 3 months of employment.
• Pursuant to MSD policy, designated as safety sensitive; must pass a DOT drug test.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as back hoe, excavator, skid steer, or truck mounted crane to dig trenches and lay pipe.
• Inspects and services vehicles and performs minor repairs; transfers equipment for safe operation.
• Supervises work of assigned employees and performs related work as required by supervisor.
