Job summary

Horry County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator IV to support the maintenance and development of roads and drainage systems. This role involves operating backhoes, graders, loaders, excavators, and other equipment, performing grading, paving and ditching with limited supervision.

You will lead a crew in the supervisor’s absence, conduct routine preventative maintenance, and ensure safety compliance while working in various weather and terrain conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 to 7 years of heavy equipment operation experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery on road construction and maintenance tasks.
• Use surveying instruments to take measurements and set grades.
• Lead a crew in absence of a supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Receive work orders and complete jobs per supervisor.
